Abbotsdale assists Moorreesburg Windriders

Abbotsdale Rugby Club donated rugby balls to Windriders Rugby Club from Moorreesburg. Windriders who participate in Boland’s Community Shield devision only play 4 home games per season which has a big impact on the clubs ability to generate funds and get sponsors.
This initiative to assist clubs is part of Abbotsdale Rugby Club’s mentoring and twinning program. According to the media officer at Abbotsdale Rugby Club, Heinrich Robertson, it is important that Abbotsdale give back to smaller clubs. “We are well aware of the challenges clubs face to run their operations and our management took a decision to help smaller clubs as far as possible” said Robertson.
Adam van Neel, Vice Chairman of Windriders said that this donation goes a long way. “This is the character we need in sport. Abbotsdale RFC had no hesitation to help us when we reached out to them. We are really thankful for this gesture and we wish them well for the rest of the season” said van Neel.
Abbotsdale RFC’s mentoring and twinning project to assist smaller clubs will continue for the rest of the year. Businesses and sponsors who are interested in partnering with the club are invited to get in touch with club management.
