The latest average dam level for dams in the Western Cape is 74.1% (2020: 60.7%) while the latest average level for dams providing water to the City of Cape Town, is 95.7% (2020: 77%).
Anton Bredell, the minister of Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning in the Western Cape, says further rainfall this week will continue to add to dam levels and river levels in the province.
“The South African Weather Services has issued weather warnings for this week, with wet and cold weather expected from Monday till Thursday. The cold front rainfall is expected to set in over the south-western parts spreading eastwards along the south coast by Tuesday with 20 – 30mm expected.”
Bredell says very cold weather conditions will set in over the interior parts of the Western Cape with snow over the mountainous area on Wednesday morning and daily temperatures are expected to be very low on Wednesday and Thursday.
“Please take necessary precautions and apply caution when travelling across the province this week. Emergency services and disaster management remains on standby.”

Voëlvlei dam – 80.8% full this week (2020: 71%. Last week: 76%)
Bergriver Dam 100% full this week (2020: 97%. Last week: 100%).
Theewaterskloof dam – 101% full this week (2020: 72%. Last week: 99%)
Clanwilliam Dam 99%. (2020: 93.2%. Last week: 94%)
